AGRU ECTFE Dual Laminate solution by BEL Technologies Ltd. replaced a PVC lined Vessel

After leakages a PVC Vessel was replaced by an ECTFE Dual Laminate construction. Now after 4 years of service the inspection of the new vessels shows good results.

Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) is one of the most important basic chemical substances. Sodium Hypochlorite (NaOCl), generally known as bleach, has a wide variety of application fields. Process and storage equipment for these chemicals needs to reliably run for years.

The vessels were originally constructed as a PVC lined dual laminate. After leakages started to appear, the customer finally decided to replace them entirely. These vessels have to reliably run for the foreseeable future, therefore a lot of support from our technical team at AGRU and at BEL convinced the end-user to use 3.0 mm thick ECTFE SK+ sheets for the internal lining.

AGRU extruded the ECTFE SK+ Sheets and BEL Technologies Ltd. then constructed and installed the vessels in Israel. Altogether BEL had fabricated 2 absorption columns with an inner diameter of 2.200 mm and a length of 9.900 mm with a set of body flanges and inner supports for bedding, as well as 2 storage tanks with an inner diameter of 4.000 mm and a length of 4.000 mm including the dome tops and radii at the bottom. The project was finished in 2017 and has been in operation ever since.

Project date: 2017
Products: ECTFE SK+ 3.0 mm
Location: Israel
Temperature: 80 °C
Pressure: 0.2 bar
Media: NaCIO (Sodium Hypochlorite), NaOH (Sodium Hydroxide)
Fabricator: BEL Technologies Ltd.

These vessels for processing and containment of both Sodium Hypochlorite (NaCIO) and Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) at an operational temperature of 80 °C were constructed using the FRP dual-laminate method. Resistant to high temperatures and even vacuum conditions, this construction method is used by the well-known fabricator BEL Technologies Ltd. with great expertise.

In October 2022, these vessels have been inspected for the first time since their new installation in 2017. During the inspection, it was clearly visible that the ECTFE is still in good shape. These processing units have been run-ning ever since.
