With a useable volume of more than 800 m³, the new FTW® drinking water storage tank in Elbtal is currently the largest polyethylene drinking water construction in Germany. The 42 m long FTW® drinking water storage tank - with three storage chambers and a valve chamber arranged transversely to it - was manufactured from HDPE 100 profile pipes made by our German partner FRANK. For the interior fittings of the armature chamber as well as in the drinking water storage, HDPE 80 blue sheets, made by our company AGRU Kunststofftechnik GmbH, were installed. The sheets, which AGRU supplied, are suitable and approved especially for applications with drinking water.
Thanks to the modular design and the low weight of the individual components, the entire structure was assembled in the shortest possible time and is now permanently welded tight. The filling and removal process of the three storage chambers in DN 3000, each with a useful capacity of 270 m³, can be regulated independently of each other. An inspection or maintenance of the individual chambers is thus possible at any time. The partition and bulkhead walls of the chambers were manufactured of AGRU’s HDPE 80 blue sheets. They are part of the HYDROclick / HYDRO+ system and therefore specifically specified and approved for drinking water applications.
The impressive drinking water structure will soon replace the old concrete high-pressure tank (two 200-meter chambers, one storage tank with two chambers of 100-cubic meter storage volume) and will supply the Dorchheim, Elbgrund and Heuchelheim districts (about 1,700 inhabitants) with drinking water for many decades.
