Safe transportation of aggressive media in industrial applications with robust plastic solutions
AGRU Kunststofftechnik GmbH is a manufacturer of industrial plastic piping systems. AGRUCHEM comprises pressure pipes, fittings, valves, and special components for process engineering applications and industrial plant construction. Which piping materials are suitable for aggressive chemicals? AGRUCHEM piping systems made of PE, PP-R, PP-H, PVDF, or ECTFE are used for industrial process media. Material selection depends on chemical medium, temperature and operating pressure. Their high chemical resistance, wide operating temperature range, and ease of installation form the basis for a long service life and high operational reliability. AGRUCHEM pressure piping systems offer high chemical resistance to highly aggressive media such as sulphuric acid (H₂SO₄), hydrochloric acid (HCl), hydrofluoric acid (HF), nitric acid (HNO₃), chlorine compounds (e.g. chlorine dioxide, sodium hypochlorite), alkalis (e.g. sodium hydroxide/NaOH), organic and inorganic solvents, as well as contaminated process exhaust air. The thermoplastic pipe and fitting components enable the construction of piping systems across a wide range of dimensions (DN/OD) and flow rates. When transporting aggressive media, plastic pressure pipes ensure a high level of long-term leak-tightness through fusion-welded joints. Heated tool butt welding and electrofusion welding ensure homogeneous joints. BIM data for digital piping design are available for Revit and AutoCAD Plant 3D.
PP-R vs. PP-H in Industrial Piping Systems
PP-R (polypropylene random copolymer) and PP-H (polypropylene homopolymer) are both used in industrial polypropylene piping systems. Material selection is determined by operating pressure, temperature and mechanical loads. Due to its higher flexibility, PP-R offers distinct advantages in the manufacture of AGRUCHEM fittings, particularly in terms of pressure resistance. All fittings within the AGRUCHEM product range are manufactured from PP-R (polypropylene random copolymer). PP-H is characterised by higher rigidity and dimensional stability and is therefore primarily used for the production of pipes. Within the AGRUCHEM product range, pipes made of PP-H and PP-R are available. The welding of PP-H to PP-R is an established and reliable process with decades of proven practical application.
