Maximum Safety with PPs Ducting Technology
When welding high-performance fluoroplastics such as PFA, FEP or ECTFE, gases that may be harmful to humans can develop. To minimise potential health hazards, a powerful extraction system can be installed directly at the processing site.
In 2025, a ventilation system made of PPs (self-extinguishing polypropylene) ducting components was installed in a welding demonstration room used for training and demonstration purposes. The aim of the project was to enhance occupational health and safety for employees and customers.
The flame-retardant properties of PPs increase facility and personnel safety in the event of a fire. By limiting the spread of fire, potential consequential damage can be reduced.
As soon as the flame source is removed, the pipe material extinguishes itself. Without this property, the fire could continue to spread along the ducting system.
By combining high-performance extraction technology with flame-retardant ducting components, a solution was implemented that meets both occupational health requirements when processing fluoroplastics and increased fire protection requirements within the workplace.
