Swimming Pond with Architectural Ambition
For the Schützenhofer Gardening Center in Rohr im Kremstal, an exceptional swimming pond was realized in which functionality, landscape design, and aesthetics come together in perfect harmony.

For the Schützenhofer Gardening Center in Rohr im Kremstal, an exceptional swimming pond was realized in which functionality, landscape design, and aesthetics come together in perfect harmony.
High-quality AGRU FPP pond liners were used to ensure the pond’s long-term watertightness while allowing maximum design flexibility.
A distinctive feature of this project is the seamless integration of plant life into the overall concept. As the owner of a Gardening Center, the client placed great emphasis on a natural and harmonious planting design – as a result, the swimming pond blends beautifully into its surroundings and impresses with an exceptionally high-quality overall appearance.
During prolonged dry periods, the pond water is used for irrigating the greenhouses and therefore represents an important factor for the Gardening Center.
Carefully designed visual highlights create striking accents: an elegantly designed jetty, an impressive natural stone wall, a spacious swimming area, and a prominent natural stone used as a seating and viewing point give the pond a unique character and invite visitors to linger.
From a technical perspective, the project is also highly remarkable: since the originally planned depth of 4 meters could not be realized in the natural terrain due to the Krems floodplain, the site was engineered accordingly. The excavated material was used to form a surrounding embankment of approximately 2 meters in height, allowing the desired water depth to be achieved. This terrain adjustment was implemented with such precision in landscape construction that it is barely noticeable visually.
The result is a swimming pond that combines technical innovation, craftsmanship, and design excellence – an impressive example of the versatile applications of AGRU plastic lining systems.
